El Cid El Moro
We thought to escape the last of east coast winter, but were surprised by the rather cool end of March weather in Mazatlan. That being said, it was a very pleasant trip. We had a WONDERFUL 23rd floor ocean view that was spectacular. The ocean was too cool for swimming, but everything else was just very pleasant. If you go there in the spring, you really need warm day clothing and warmer evening wear. It does get quite cool/windy as the sun sets.
Very much recommend the tennis (Gustavo) and golf (Jose) pros. Quite reasonable cost and much closer instruction than I've ever had stateside. HIghLY recommend. We took a side trip (on our own) into the center of town. Felt very safe/comfortable, very interesting culture. Also took a trip to the leather and tequila shops with Jesus. He was great, as well as was the trip. (Be sure to use the El Cid coupon and ask for Jesus).
The all inclusive food was mixed. Breakfast was very good, lunch ok, dinner unimpressive. However, (non-inclusiver) dinners are quite reasonable. We had a few dinners at the ocean side restaurant of El Moro (believe the name is La Concha). What a SPECTACULAR evening/sunset view of the ocean, very decent food/service and quite reasonable. If you go in around 6p, there is a 2 for 1 happy hour that seems to flow into the night. Again, beautiful views, good food and great prices.
Finally, attitude of hotel/restaurant/service staff were wonderful. Cannot say enough for how well we were treated. Never a testy or unpleasant moment. Good to recognize you're in a little different culture, but beyond that manner in which you are treated/received is both appreciative and welcoming.
If only the ocean were 10 degrees warmer.

Room Information
390 guest suites in a 25-story tower. Most include ocean-view balconies. A few have no balconies but instead feature unit-wide windows with close-up ocean views. Fully equipped kitchenettes come with two-burner cooktops, microwaves, toaster ovens, refrigerators, blenders, and coffeemakers. Remodeled in 2004, suites provide a casual, contemporary ambience featuring pale-yellow cabinets and furniture, orange upholstery, gold drapes, green-and-gold bedspreads, tan-marble floors, knobby-textured white walls with terra-cotta accents, and marble-lined bathrooms. Ceiling fans provide a cooling alternative to suites' air-conditioning.
The corner suites here offer plenty of room and are a great option for families. The sunset are spectacular from this highrise building. I've found a favorite spot at the adults pool and spent hours reading and soaking up the sun.
What We'd Change
This hotel shares alot of the public areas with El Cid Castilla Beach next door. The pool is so large though that you'll hardly even notice.
