Very Nice Resort!
The resort is very beautiful and clean. The service is excellent, everyone is so friendly and always smiling. The beach and water are so clean. We did the preferred deal and it was worth the little extra you pay. Anything you needed you need not ask more than once and you had it. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed every minute. There are only two things that I would say that could use a little improvement and they are more choices for food in the restaurants (instead of just 4 entrees that seem to be similar with same sauces but maybe a beef, poultry and seafood choice). Some restaurants did have a seafood choice on the menu, however it was not available. Also, when the show starts, they should still have the band or singer continue in the main plaza to give you a choice of what you would like to do instead of once the show is about to begin the band/singer in the main plaza ends. If you don't go to the show, then your only choice is to head to one of the bars, casino or the movie on the beach.
All in all, it was a wonderful vacation and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
Picture your Destination Wedding!!! or that of your Son/Daughter's as I just experienced at Now Larimar, Punta Canta. From stepping off the plane, being greeted by the representative for Cheap Caribbean and arriving at
the resort everything went smoothly. Everyone was very courteous at check-in, we had one little problem (no remote for the TV which was handled very promptly with a new TV & remote). The Wedding Coordinator was fantastic and the Wedding Ceremony , Cocktail Hour, and Reception where beautiful. There were 23 family/friends who made the trip and it will be something that we all will remember. The Service, the food, the beach, the Spa, the Tours available - All something to remember.
Our stay at Now larimar started with a quick pick-up from the airport by a rep from Olympus Tours. They were ready for us when we got there and the transported us to our hotel in a clean, new, air-conditioned van. Room was nice, but the jets did not work in the tub. Not that big of a deal though b/c we spent most of our time on the beach which was really pretty. The water was blue and green, but a little murky with sea weed. Service was very good and there was no language barrier as everyone who worked there spoke English. It was a very good experience for my first time out of the country and I would definitely recommend the resort. The only real negative would be the "coupons" that were given to us that we really didn't use. We thought we would save a lot of money on spas and wine, but it didn't work well. We had to sit through a sales speech before we could even get them. Since it was all inclusive it didn't really matter.

Great service
We just returned from a family vacation, ages ranging from 5 to 70, 8 family members total. We had a great time!! The staff was the best we have ever dealt with. My husband and I have been to Riviera Maya 5 times and never thought we would find anything that compared, but Now Larimar did! We spent most of our time at the pool and the two waitresses, Daniella and Elizabeth, were always right there. Always made sure we had drinks, especially the kids and grandparents. They went above and beyond what was expected. The restaurants were really good, except there was a lapse in service at "Spice", the sushi bar. But the hibatchi grill made up for the sushi bar. The only restaurant we didn't dine in was the french. The biggest issue we ran into almost every night, was that the restaurants wouldn't accommodate our large party. The steak restaurant was the worst, they couldn't figure out that the 2 empty 4 top tables that were next to each other, that all they needed to do was push them together to seat our party. So the kids got tired of waiting so half of us went to the buffet. The rooms were very comfortable, except the big "window" between the bed and the bathroom. You have really no privacy in the bathroom. But other than that the rooms were very nice. Overall, things were great, the restaurants were the biggest disappointment.

Is the beach at Now Larimar Punta Cana good for swimming?9 answers
1 year, 13 months ago
Pinkham
The beach at the Now Larimar Punta Cana is beautiful, with clear, turquoise water. The water is usually calm, and great for swimming, however this is based upon the current weather conditions, and sometimes there can be some seaweed present.
KristinCC
The pools are amazing!
The beach is not good for swimming there is a lot of boat traffic
Italianbella
yes. The beach was beautiful and the water was clear and warm!
tadandlad
The beach is beautiful and calm with no waves. However, has a lot of seaweed. It is fine if you don't mind the seaweed.
KWWVA
We didn't swim in the beach because we ended up loving the pools so much. There was a little seaweed on the beach near the water when we went--could've just been a seasonal thing. We saw plenty of people, adults and children in the water. The beach itself was so nice to sit on. Plenty of cabanas and beach chairs to lounge on.
BBenef
Excelent!
Marivi99
Yes it is BEAUTIFUL and sand is pure white no shells at all in the water
Tappy
the beaches are great clear and they rake the beach daily
sbrat
I would say it was one of the nicer places in the area to swim. They have a large area roped off for children and the water gradually deepens.

relaxandenjoy
No, we had to purchase it. It cost ~ $50. 00 round trip for two

Yes, though we had to choose the option when we booked the trip. It was very convenient!!! When we arrived they called out our name and less than 5 minutes later we were in our Taxi and on our way with our voucher for our ride home.

no, but you can add it on with your cheapcaribbean.com purchase and I would definitely recommend it. It was super easy, friendly, quick, safe, and took a lot of stress out of the situation if I had been trying to find my own ride to the hotel. They also let me know when they were going to pick me up at the hotel to go back to the airport without me having to arrange anything. Worth every penny.

Is this resort all inclusive?11 answers
I noticed that on the "Package Description" there are 'coupons' for things such as wine, romantic dinner, etc. Is this resort all inclusive, or do we have to pay for additional things such as alcohol and meals?
1 year, 12 months ago
Kate
The resort is ALL food, beer, liquor included but there is a charge for lobster, wine and romantic dinners by the water and alone. The coupons are broken up into different amounts and you are only able to use them for certain things and one per item...we didn't use ANY of ours because they weren't able to be applied to the things we wanted!
tababy21
We just stayed at Now Jade Riviera Cancun and it is all inclusive. My guess is that Punta Cana is also all inclusive. We also had coupons for upper end wine, spa treatments and romantic dinners, which were not included. All alcohol at the bars and all food, except lobster dinners were included.
ZGdiverdown
It depends... some resorts are All-Inclusive but have coupons linked to extras (Spas, Extra Dining, Excursions, etc...). You just have to check with the resort.
SukiMySuki
It is definitely all inclusive. You could go and not spend a dime and have an incredible vacation. There are some extra things that you can spend money on if you feel like it (romantic beach dinner, wine other than house wine, internet access in your room). All of the restaurant food (which was great), all drinks (other than the premium wines), room service and plenty of activities at the resort are included. You can even be lying out on the beach and they have people walking around that take drink orders and come back five minutes later with whatever you asked for.
braveopenseas
You get resort coupons for a bottle of wine (all drinks including alcohol is included but this if you want to purchase a bottle to bring back to your room) You can use the coupons for the spa which is an additional charge and romantic dinner which is private on the beach.
Italianbella
All inclusive - yes - but there were wine lists in the restaurants availalble for purchase.
Alcohol and meals are included.
Meeko
all alchohol and food is free. your own fancy bottle or a romantic table with special service out on the beach is extra
dolphins
It's all inclusive but if you want wine, you have to pay an additional fee. All meals, even at the specialty resturants (some included house wines free) was included. They even had top shelf liquor at the bars which was included.
tadandlad
Dress code depends on which restaurant your going to eat at.
You can go in shorts , shirt which covers your arm Pitts. Or casual with men long pants , shoes and casual shirt .
Mastero
Hi, we received some coupons and we used at the spa and one day we went to Mercure Restaurant and we used per a bottle of wine that was listed on the menu and wasn't included in the package but the meals and rest of liquors were included also.
Marivi99
You do not have to pay for meals and alcohol, unless you opt for a romantic dinner ($92US) served on the beach or a lobster dinner ($72US) served in your choice of a la carte restaurants.

If your reservation has been made with a guarantee, which requires use of your credit card, all hotels will keep your reservation open for that night.
All vacation packages are prepaid, hence, guaranteed, so guests may arrive at any time. No need to call hotel. The only thing to worry about is your transportation. Vacation packages always offer transfers to and from the hotel. When purchased, no problem. If not purchased and must be bought upon arrival, then a late arrival may be problematic. However, in DR you should have no problem whatsoever, regardless of how late you arrive.
Yampalinn
There is a bowling alley open from 5:30pm to 11:30pm.
There is an additional charge I believe it was $10 per game and shoe rentals were available.
Italianbella
yes and theres only 3 lanes. There were so many other FREE things to do that we didnt bother
dolphins
yes! It is $10 USD per game, $2 USD for shoes and $2 USD for socks. There are only four lanes!
tadandlad
The bowling alley is not included, and you need to pay for both shoe rental as well as lanes. I think it was relatively cheap to book, however.
aaarickyaaa
Bowling alley charges for games and shoe rentals, plus it is really small.
Kerrie
$10.00 per game and $2.00 per shoes rent
Marivi99

Where are all the reviews for this hotel?8 answers
I'm curious because the NOW Larimar does not have a favorable reputation on the Internet. Seems odd that you have zero reviews for this hotel!

Now Larimar Punta Cana just opened on May 1, 2011. Customers have not yet posted their reviews for their travel. If you are looking for reviews, you can look for those of NH Real Arena Punta Cana as that is what Now Larimar Punta Cana used to be prior to May 1, 2011.
MariaCC
Maybe because no one loved it?
Meeko
I asked the same question before we went there. It used to be owned by someone else and changed ownership May 1st. It's part of the Secrets Resorts next door which you don't have access to. However, if you book at Secrets, you have access to the NOW Larimar. Didn't get that!! It wan't horrible and I guess for Punta Cana, it's supposed to be one of the nicer resorts. Lots of kids and open to locals on the weekends, so it's very busy and loud! It does have a nice beach and pools but don't expect someone to come around and offer you anything to drink! You have to go to one of the bars and get your own. The food is OK, don't expect 5 star and you won't be dissapointeted!
tadandlad
Quality is not quite up to par yet. Just got back from 5 nights. I just posted a review but it won't be visible for 48 hours or so.
Jillyo
From what I understand, Now Larimar only opened in May so they are still new on this area and are probably eager for the first group of visitors to review the resort.
BBenef
The Internet was outstanding, you have to pay extra but it is well worth it.
Mastero
They make it very difficult. For example, I wanted to add internet to my room and they said that must be paid with cash. I was suprised that they would not accept credit cards and then I would have to take that up with the business center. Everything in there operates as if they are different units. It wouls only make sense if they worked as a whole.
TR2326
Now Larimar is a new name for this resort (less then a year ago it changes names). They belong to the same resort group and Beaches, Secrets, and another one that I can't remember. Many European that I don't think write reviews.

What is the dress attire for the resorts restaurants?11 answers

Long pants and collared shirts for men and semi formal for women, but I saw men wearing shorts and tee-shirts at the Brazillian restaurant...

Dress nice, there is a dress code for most of the evening restaurants. I wore a nicer, but light sun dress and my boyfriend wore slacks. If you dont feel like getting dolled up for the night, you can call in for room service-- its included!
Kangie
The dress attire can range from casual to casual elegance to resort formal depending on the restaurant.
MariaCC
Dressy casual. A dress or slacks and heels- no shorts or flip flops
dolphins
Men must wear long pants at all of the specialty resuarants. We saw men in jeans and shirts in three of them. The japanese required long pants and shirts with collars. Women could wear longer shorts, slacks and sundresses.
tadandlad
There were three forms of dress code at the restaurants:
Casual (Beach attire is fine)
Casual Elegant (Pants and shoes for men)
Formal (Dress shirt, Pants, shoes for men)
Buffets were casual, most restaurants were casual elegant, and the two French restaurants on the premise were formal
aaarickyaaa
Ala carte restaurants require long pants and shirts with sleeves for men. The french restaurant also requires dress shoes for men. We tried dress sandals that were close toed and were refused entry.
Kerrie
Ladies were typically dresses, crop pants, etc. Men must have long pants for all the restaurents except the buffet. No flip flops for men. Dress cool, the A/C in the restaurants battles to keep the place cool.
VacationFool
Dress code depends on which restaurant your going to eat at.
You can go in shorts , shirt which covers your arm Pitts. Or casual with men long pants , shoes and casual shirt .

Long pants and a semi-formal shirt (i.e. collar) for men.

Preferred Club rooms just cost more. It's not really a "club" per se. Additional bennies include a private lounge with pastries/coffee, drinks and snacks, private check-in and Preferred-only pool and beach areas. Supposedly, there's free wi-fi, which is why I paid up for Preferred, but it was not so (see my review), so I had to complain to get a credit for wi-fi usage. Worth it? Up to you. Keep in mind you can get drinks and beach space anywhere on the resort on your own and the lounge is all the way back at reception, the farthest point from the rooms and beach you can go to.
