Great Graduation Present
I took my daughter to Cancun as a well deserved college graduation present. We stayed at the Oasis Palm. I will start out with the areas of opportunity first. The rooms although they said were renovated, were old and a little small. I would also recommend the top floor because the floors are tile and you can hear everything above you. The front desk and concierge were not the friendliest but some of them also work from 7 AM till 10 PM so it understandable. The rooms were clean and the showers was very good. Also tough to get enough towels, but be persistent. You can get one big bottle of water per day, just make sure you leave a note for the housekeeper. We did have a major toilet clog that they came I'm minutes with a plunger and a big Hola, and took care of it. Still only have one elevator working out of three , but someone was working on one so that was encouraging.
Now the good and there is a lot of that. Let's start with the help the servers, housekeepers, Jamie and bartenders were excellent! They couldn't do enough for us and made you feel very welcome. As other folks recommended bring 100 dollar bills for tips and other small items. The buffets were very good as was the Japanese restaurant. The seafood one Coco something was not good at all and would stay away from that. Cheap Caribbean was great as was Olympus Tours. So much so that our rep who was Limwerg Lopez was one of the highlights of our trip. We saw him every day and got to know each other. You want to purchase any excursions from him or Olympus. We only did one and that was tickets to the club in the "Party Zone" called Coco Bongo. They were about 70 bucks each , but that included a ride down and drinks. It was by far the best club I have been to. Nothing in Vegas or NYC compares. Its for all ages 18 + and was a incredible show with performers for over 3 hours. I highly recommend this. We wanted to take the ferry for 17 dollars each rt to Isle Di Mujures but ran out of time. As others folks have mentioned the bus system is great and runs 24/7 for under a buck. If you don't want to spend the entire day going to the ruins, check out El Rey Ruins 20 minutes on the bus and it a great little spot. You can get your ruins fix and see LOL lots of lizards. I would not recommend "Market 28", it was a long bus ride and you had to walk through the Mayan Ruins (not the good ones) after you get off the bus. Then you will run into a lot of pushy vendors, some of them were nice. Instead of this go to the Mexican Fiesta Market at Party Center. They had the same stuff there, same price without the hassle and free tequila shots upon entering the store ( makes you buy more stuff). There are some small shops across the street if you want to do some bartering. Overall I rate the Oasis Palm a 2 star resort with a 5 star staff and food. I would probably try a different resort but I would definitely use Cheap Caribbean and hopefully they will keep Olympus tours.
This resort has a stinky mildew smell. We had to go to the local market to purchase air freshener for our room. The toilet constantly stayed backed up. This resort has 2 main dinning halls that serve the same menu all day everyday (no variety). The other restaurants that you have to be up at 7am to request a reservation are not even worth breaking you sleep. The best thing going for this resort are the free drinks and hamburger and hotdog stand. Most of the staff are very friendly and understand minimal english. Oh and there is no beach at this resort it is referred to as the lagoon. Will not be returning.
We upgraded to the Grand Osasis Palm, and were glad we did. The only thing disappointing was that they had no balconies. But other than that, the rooms were clean and comfortable. We also had room service one evening, and the food was superb.
The service everywhere (maids, waiters, bars, front desk, etc.) was fantastic. I would recommend taking $100 in 'ones' and tipping the staff throughout the week. They will go out of their way to please you.
We went for 5 days and nights and although the weather report was rain, we had beautiful weather every day. My husband and I had a great trip. Our boys (12 years old) were a bit disappointed that whatever we booked only included 2 reservation restaurants and 2 buffet restaurants. They were also bummed that the beach was so small and crowded. The wanted bigger sand areas to play catch w/the football without disturbing others. The waiters and bartenders were great and very accomadating but the front desk staff were extremely unfriendly and bordered on rude. We went on the Xplore excursion and it was well worth it...especially if you have teens or pre-teens.
The photographers were great. The kids had their photos taken every day with different animals and then we had family photos in and on the beach...they were wonderful...we bought the CD.

If kids stay and eat free at an all inclusive resort how do we go about air-fare?3 answers
Is their a sat price for their airfare?

banannie
The childrens airfare will be the same amount as your airfare.. Best to book with Cheapcaribbean.
beckybnott
When you create your reservation online you still have to include your children on the hotel portion of the booking. Although the hotel portion is free, they will be charged for airfare, so our site will pull seats for everyone on the land reservation. You'll see a breakdown of the charges before you move ahead to book the reservation
JenCC
The airfare for the kids would be extra.

The price includes everything; but at this resort everything is not much; food is inedible, liquor poor, and service non existant. See my comments, if they print them.

If you are booking a package that will include airfare, hotel price (any All-Inclusive features they offer, if any) and taxes. The price may not include arrival or departure taxes however. To receive more information for what is included in a package pricing, please contact 1.800.915.2322.

Airfair including all taxes and fees, transportation to and from airport, room, unlimited food, unlimited drinks (including alcohol), tips, and use of pool and beach facilities. Not included were excursions to area sites such as Mayan ruins, caves, water parks, snorkeling at coral reefs, etc., nor transportation to shopping. However, the bus stops right outside the resort, comes by every two to five minutes, and only costs 80 cents per person to ride. Also, a safe to lock up valuables costs extra as does the internet. They charge $20 daily for an internet connection.

My package, which I presume is the standard package, included airfare, transfers to and from hotel, room, all you can eat food, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcohol is "standard" house brands, not top of the line, which you can pay for if you choose. It was a really great price deal for me!
TimfromMA
It includes all your meals at any time. The airfair from Fort Lauderdale, florida. The room is also included. You do have to pay some room taxes in addition.

I would not purchase the Oasis Palm Beach all inclusive rate. Stay at The Oasis Cancun or The Grand Oasis instead. The all-inclusive rate includes all food and domestic beer and liquor at the resort. You can also travel to the Oasis Cancun and eat and drink until 6pm with the same band.

The all inclusive price includes airfare, room, meals, drinks, and entertainment within the hotel. The drinks include alcoholic beverages, but Corona seems to be the only beer offered.
JoseR
All inclusive means, airfare, transport to and from the airport, the room, and all the food you can eat and drink you can drink. The drinks are middle class, no Patron, but not bad and worth it
cfreema7
It includes airfare, room, transportation to and from the airport, and all meals and drinks.

For kids, the Ultimate Kids Club at the Oasis Resort Cancun lets the youngsters have their own fun at the Kids Pool, with an awesome waterslide or nearby playground. While the kids are laughing it up, we suggest parents give themselves a relaxing treat at the Kin Ha Spa or take time to slip away to downtown Cancun for a little retail therapy.

From a la carte Tex-Mex to beachside sushi, you are sure to find what you're hungry for.The fun doesn't stop when the dinner plates are gone. The Mexican and Caribbean shows, each offered once a week at the Oasis Palm Beach Resort, are great fun for the whole family.
If you are hankering for an adventure away from the resort, book a trip to nearby Isla Mujeres, a quaint fishing village 20 minutes away by boat. Here we think you'll enjoy visiting a turtle farm, exploring an underwater sculpture museum or just soaking in the old-world charm.
