It's time to clock out for the sun and gleaming, white sands of Cable Beach at Wyndham Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace Casino. With the tallest towers around, the Wyndham Nassau offers a fantastic, beachfront view of the Bahamas, as well as a private swimming lagoon. Couples and singles love the games and slots in the 30,000-sq-ft, Vegas-style, Crystal Palace Casino. The kids, who stay free, go crazy over the pool's huge, spiral waterslide.

Nassau Wyndham
Not really great interior....Rooms were acceptable except for the water leak in the first room after the storm the night before.....Was a chore to get them to move us from the moldy smelling room......Casino is not real nice.....First room was next to LOUD construction.....Very annoying.......Beach was spectacular and we spent most of the time there.....Georgeous water and beach A+.....Dinning at the hotel was not good......Only could get wi-fi in one designated area.....Not very nice......Buildings are old and not real great.....Ceiling was crunbling down in the ice cream shop.......Ice cream was good though......Overall I would go back to the Bahamas for the weather, beach and water but would not stay again at the Wyndham......Hope this is Helpful......PS.....Would stay at the Sheraton next to the Wyndham next time......MUCH nicer with the same wonderful beach.....Chuck

OLD RUN DOWN/ NEEDS A NEW RENOVATION ASAP
The hotel looks like it was built in the 1970's and NEVER renovated, the casino is butleg. The people there are sooooo annoying, everyone is trying to pull you to sign up and register for different events. They are way toooo aggressive. (Just say no thank you and keep it moving) --- The room -The mattress does not have a bed skirt, the hotel room smells old, like mildew. The pool grounds look dated, DO NOT look at the picture, it is a LIE. IT DOES NOT look like that NOW. However they are building a new hotel that looks like it will be fabulous in 2014. Stay tuned ........
Don't waste your precious time on this resort. This relic is being torn down to make way for a new mega resort. As a result, no maintenance or upkeep is being done on the facitlity. They are just trying to pull every buck they can out of it while they get the new one built. The Marlin tower is the absolute worst thing I have ever stayed in.
The rooms are terrible, things do not work, the hallways look like something out of a crack house. They will lie to you constantly, and the expense to eat is crazy. You cannot find anything for under $20.00. Eight to ten dollars for a tiny plastic kids cup for drinks. You have to take a cab or bus to go anywhere, so you are pretty much stuck paying their inflated food prices. The entire hotel smells like smoke, even though smoking is "only allowed in the Casino". The service is slow and poor.
Spend a few more bucks and go to Sandals or The Atlantis, or any of the other smaller resorts. The Sheraton next door is way better, even though it is being torn down eventually too for the new resort.
The beach is nice, but the chairs are in bad shape, and swimming is restricted to a very small area. You get to hear the constant hammering of buildings being torn down and construction or jet skis being driven back and forth.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time on Nassau and will definitely come back. Cheap Caribbean provided us with a good experience for booking our first trip to the Bahamas.
The hotel was average; is in need of room upgrades but the staff work hard to keep it clean and comfortable for the guests.
We ate in the restaurant 3 mornings for the breakfast buffet - the omelette station was really good!
Most of the hotel staff was very courteous and helpful, however when we had an issue with our credit card and needed to call our bank using the hotel phone, one of the Bell Station female attendants were extremely rude and offered no assistance whatsoever which made an already stressful situation even more stressful. Thankfully another staff member assisted us and everything worked out well.
Overall I would recommend this hotel to a friend that is on a smaller budget.
We will come back to Nassau and will most likely book through Cheap Caribbean, but will look to stay at a different location.

The Wyndham Nasau is not an all inclusive resort, so your meals are not included in the package price. There are some other resorts in the area, however that do have an all inclusive option.
KateCC
There are 4 places in the hotel to eat. The food is very expensive and not included. But very good food!!!
scubascott
no
PeachesSteel
no, food was extra pay, and its not cheap
coldforce
I don't know if there is an all inclusive option here but what I do know is that every restaurant is VERY expensive. $20 breakfast or $30 lunch/dinner buffet. The tiki restaurant is a little more reasonable. There is a Starbucks that has standard items but they are more expensive than in the states. Another "restaurant" called ERL was pricey but probably the best option. There are also other restaurants but they were very expensive. There isn't much else to eat nearby so you are kind of stuck eating somewhere in the hotel.
mbuck
not in our package
boatstuf
Food is not free.
At wyndham, there is a deal going on. It is for people over 28 years of age. There is a membership option available that when subscribed to at a minimum price, makes customers eligible to free breakfast, lunch and discounted dinners. Contact the hotel to learn more.
There are 3 restaurants at Wyndham where customers can choose to dine. Buffet options are available.
BossLadyB
NO - water is not even included ($1 in the casino...who charges for water while gambling?!) All options are expensive and very, very unfamily friendly this day in age. No restaurants within walking distance and not even a mini fridge in the hotel room. Good luck.

How do I upgrade to the all inclusive option?7 answers
1 year, 15 months ago
Chris
The Wyndham Nassau does not have an all inclusive option, so this upgrade is not possible.
KateCC
you may only do so if it is offered to you when booking a wedding and you must have a certain amount of people attending.
PeachesSteel
Wyndham is not all inclusive, Breezes is though.
Anonymous
that was my only complaint with cheapcaribbean I thought their add said all inclusive but when i could not complete the reservation on the internet and I call on phone and got short on time i forgot to confirm the all inclusive part and after printing my documents and read them I saw it was not inclusive. Not sure if online vs on phone lost something or if as they later told me on phone that the Wyndham did not offer an all inclusive package.
boatstuf
I don't think Wyndham offers an all inclusive option meals are out of pocket by visa and mc as well as cash are accepted everywhere

dneal
you can't - they have no meal options. We inquired. Do not stay here - try the Sheraton or better yet, don't book on Cable beach - the construction is devastating and will not be finished for a couple more years. Only book here if you like chained link fences and condemned buildings.
caroo
DO NOT DO IT!!! THE COST IS WAY MORE THAN THE VALUE YOU GET IN RETURN. WE HAVE TRIED SEVERAL AND NOW BOOK AT LOCAL AREA RESORTS USING THE AMERICAN PLAN.
mike54kim72
We were just upgraded, I think if there is room they want to put you in newly renovated Casino Tower. Be sure to ask for a room in this tower, it is awesome!

is there the option of early check in?11 answers
1 year, 14 months ago
alycia
Early check-in is typically not an option with resorts in the Caribbean, although it is possible to request it. If your flights are arriving early please contact us so we can inquire at the resort for your specific travel dates.
JenCC
check-in is at 4pm but they were able to find a room for us by 1:30pm. Just check your bags if you get there early and grab a drink and the outdoor bar. I'd recommend the souvenir cups so you can use them later in the trip.
beachboy21
Yes ,if your room is availible. The staff will work with you . They are great.
PeachesSteel
No, we got there earlier than our check in time and we had to wait. So we left our bags with the bell man and went to the beach.
natb
We got in to the hotel around 9:30, 10am and they let us check in. FYI.
Krissy
We arrived at the hotel 3:30pm and were asked to return at 4pm for check-in and our roomwas still not ready. This was resolved quickly but there is no early check-in.
GlinJer
We arrived a couple of hours before check-in and we were able to get into our room because it was ready. My mom's room was not ready so she had to wait until they were done cleaning it and then they gave her the key.
mbuck
they will try to accomodate you we got there at 1:30pm and they let us check in early ask for H or C bldg very nice view if your n M tower ur view is the construction site

yes, most hotels allow that if all the rooms are not fully occupied. The management at Wyndham was very good and they allowed us to check in 1 1/2 hrs before the time.
BossLadyB
I always fly in early and I have never had to wait for my room. They were very accommodating.

I called and asked for early check in and they said no, but when we showed up we were allowed into the room 2 hours early.

How far to downtown and taxi cost to downtown?11 answers
1 year, 12 months ago
Buyer
The Wyndham Nassau Resort is about 5 1/2 miles from downtown. Taxi pricing depends on the individual taxi company, and can vary. There is also an inexpensive local bus that runs right by the resort that travels downtown, to the fish fry, the straw market, and other areas of interest.
KristinCC
Downtown is about 5-8 minutes away. Taxi's are generally $4-$9/person but if you jump on a bus (bus #10 to be exact) it's $1.25/person
Cooley
From Wyndham Hotel & Casino to downtown is about 10-15min cab ride. A cab for two persons will cost roughly $20 one-way.
Funjen79
its only 10-15 minutes and taxi costs about 15-20 dollars... there are frequent buses to DT and it costs only 1.25 dollars per person each way
Kalyani
Bus cost $1.25 per person each way. Taxi is about $15.00 each way
DEAR0512
A few miles from Wyndham to downtown. The bus is $1.25 and runs until 630pm. A taxi will be much more, we paid $20 to get us from beyond downtown back to the hotel.
Scooba
We were given a price of $15 by a hotel reprsentative and heard $20 from somene else. That is only one way.
GlinJer
taxi is $15 to downtown but I would recommend the bus which is $1.25, everyone takes the bus and and is faster. Downtown is about 8 miles.
Anonymous
I would take the bus downtown. It runs every 3-5 minutes and only costs $1.25. The taxis are very expensive. My husband and I took a taxi to Atlantis from Wyndham and it was $21 each way.
mbuck
10 minutes $15 to $20 plus tip
boatstuf
its about a 10-20 min and it cost about 20 dollars for a taxi. Take the bus its cheaper and its easier. Parking can be difficult.

Do i need an international license to drive in bahamas? & is it wise to get a rental car?11 answers
11 months ago
glads
According to Bahamas.com, visitors may use their home licenses for up to three months. Unfortunately, we do not offer car rental service in the Bahamas so are unable to advise if renting a car is the best option for travelers.
MariaCC
I wouln't try to drive in the bahamas. The roads are really crazy!! Just ride the bus. It's $1.25 per ride. There are also taxis everywhere but they are very expensive.
mbuck
I would not rent a car unless you are use to drive on the left side of the street. The island is very small and there are taxi and bus transportation everywhere. We rented a car in freeport bahamas and returned it about a hour later. Hope this helps.
jcgolf
they drive on the left side of the road so be careful driving it looks confusing to me. taxi's were $12 to $20 plus tip to boat tour docks and restaurants. call AAA they can tell u about the international license.
boatstuf
I am not surre about the license. However, I would recommend not renting because there arre taxicabs everwhere. They also drive on the opposite side of the road and the natives drive very fast.
angelj
IT can be helpful but it all depends on if you plan on going out for their night life. Otherwise they have a bus that is a $ 1.25 per person. Gas there is about $5.00 and you have to pay for parking at the hotel which is believe is about 10-12 dollars. I do not believe you need a bahamian drivers license. Taxi's are expensive there and cost any where from 15- 25 dollars depending on where you are going.
Laurend
I would not recommend driving in the Bahamas. Moving about is very simple. There are taxis waiting at all the hotels, and the city bus stops at the hotels every half hour or so. Bus rides are extremely inexpensive, and many excursions pick you up at the hotel door.
The traffic in Nassau is wild. Add to that, driving on the opposite side of the road (for some of us), and it's a recipe for an accident. Also, some areas of the island are unsafe for tourists, and it would be awfully easy to wander into those areas unguided.
travelcheap
I have never driven there, they drive on the other side of the road, too confusing for me. Parking would be an issue. The bus runs all day for 1.25 per trip, cabs about 20.
Kalik
No international license is needed and I would highly recommend renting a car, getting a map of the island and exploring. There are beautiful areas that you would never see unless you do this. My favorite part of the vacation was exploring the different beaches and parks. I found lots of conch shells too at the other beaches that are more secluded! Have fun!
hopo23
If you have a family, it may be nice to have a car. The cabs are expensive and the buses are tight. The moped rental is a fun option for a couple but of 3 couples we saw do this, two of them had a moped that broke down.

local transportation works well, only$1.25

How can payments be made?8 answers
Can u plz tell me if this is a pay pal pay trip or do we need to pay in full totally now?

blondie
You have two options for payment. You may pay in full at the time of booking or you can make a deposit payment, the balance to be paid in full no later than three weeks prior to departure. The deposit payment would be your cost of the airfare, taxes and services, and any additional insurance you purchase. The final balance would be autocharged to the card used at booking, unless we are otherwise advised.

They do have the option of a payment depending on when you plan on traveling.

eating anywhere in curacao is high we did not really find many local places to eat except in willemstad where their is a local food stalls but only open during daytime if you have a mini reg in your room go to the centrum supermarket and buy stuff for sandwichs but you will need a rental car
mrrocko
Dear G, I just wrote a review about this. If this is a family trip, check out the markets - one downtown, closer one west - "City Market". You can take a local bus to get there, $1.50 each way, and they stop at 7PM, so shop early. Food at the hotel is EXPENSIVE, and it's impossible to get anything reasonable at dinner. The Sheraton is a sister-property next door, but same style of choices. No fast food places very close - just west is a Burger King, but it's a bit of a walk. Just a mini-fridge in room, NO microwave. Some places deliver - Pizza Hut, Sbarro's, but require minimum purchase.
TexasTessie
Pretty expensive and there are limited places to eat there. I would compare the prices to trying to have lunch at a sports stadium or concert. You know, when it's like $10 for 4 chicken fingers and $5 for a water. I took the bus instead to the supermarket and grabbed some stuff to make lunch, breakfast and snacks. Still a little pricey, but much cheaper.
Beaches175
We paid $51.50 to eat lunch at the Seaside Buffett. And about $38 for the breakfast buffet. Don't even think to go near the Angus Grill. They are a little expensive.
1BahamaMomma
ALOT!!! The restaurants were very expensive.
WMASS
about $12 for sandwiches, about $7 for drinks. Breakfast is $16/buffet. Evening Buffet is $30. The bus runs all the time, at the market beer is $3.00 and meals are from $10 to 32. The Black Angus is excellent but pricey at about $40 for Lobster or steak.
Kalik
The buffet for dinner was $30 for adults (Seaside)
Moso entrees ran $20 and up
The steak house was $25 and up

Just came back. The cost of meals are average, $18.00 p/p for buffett breakfast. The in house steak house was real good and cost bout $75.00 for two, dress is business casual. Wyndham Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace Casino: Vegas-style Gaming, Private Lagoon and Ocean Views
Tanning comes easy in lounge chairs dotting the powder-fine sand around the private lagoon, and hanging out at the swim-up Tiki Hut Bar and Grill with a Bahama mama while the kids give the waterslide a workout is bliss. You're bound to be hungry after splashing around, and the restaurants and bars have plenty of options: West Bay St. Eatery is a family-friendly spot serving gourmet burgers, pizza, fajitas and other kid-approved entrees, or get a healthy dose of protein at Black Angus Grill with a perfect porterhouse steak. Get ice cream cones at Beaches and Cream before checking out a variety show at the Rainforest Theatre or sharing a dance with someone special on the poolside, elevated dance floor. Couples sipping Ketel cosmos while grooving to live music on Fridays and Saturdays adore 22 Above, the hip lounge.
Whether you're sunning by the water or scuba diving in it, there's plenty to keep you busy: let the kids explore the Kids Club, reel in a big one on a deep-sea fishing excursion, or play a friendly game of tennis. The spa has a Swedish massage that melts away the stress, and if that doesn't do the trick, shopping in downtown Nassau will!
After taking in the sun and seeing the sights, you can freshen up and enjoy the breathtaking ocean view from the private balcony provided in the 700-sq-ft Corner Suite.
