Was a lot better a year ago
Many of the people who work the resort sort of "work around" the guests. Many seem annoyed that they have to work with guests. The beaches are GREAT. The Paparazzi and Red Parrot were very good. The Red Parrot was great last year and just as excellent this year. The Paparazzi seems better this year. Breakfast and lunch buffets were lackluster. I spent 75 minutes in line waiting to check in and that was just unacceptable. I also don't like the people at the travel desk pushing tour vouchers so much - that got annoying. The room was ok but housekeeping missed a day, both the room door and bathroom doors stuck so they had to be slammed to properly close and the room was only vacuumed before our visit. After 4 days of beach visits, the sand in the room was pretty bad.
In all, the grumpy staff and the long wait times to check in were troublesome. I had planned to go back annually but don't know if I want to return next year. I feel like the staff there mostly wishes I would just leave them alone and not order drinks or food. They mostly talked to each other and I seemed like an interruption to them.
This is our thrid trip through cheapcaribbean and it was terrific! I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone. If you are looking for fancy this is not the place for you. If you are looking clean and friendly with the most beautiful beaches this is perfect.
Pros: the staff - everyone was friendly and helpful.; the location - you can't beat it. If you are on the first floor you walk right out to the beach. In the second story rooms you have a nice balcony facing the ocean.
Cons: the rooms are small. With just two people you are fine. We had three and were a bit crowded. Since we weren't there much not a big deal, but worth mentioning. The Italian restaurant was the worst food at the resort. We went through at least 5 servers. My father had to send his food back and the lasagna was not well received by either my husband or daughter. My food was OK, but the service was really slow. We actually left before our after dinner drinks arrived ( I think they forgot).
Overall the food was good. The red parrot was the best for dinner. The buffet was simple, but OK. The drinks during the day seemed a little weak, but they were flowing all day.
Our room was right next to the bar and pool. We loved this, since it made getting drinks in the evening easy and we could sit on the patio, the guys could smoke cigars, we could enjoy the bands and dance on the beach. If you plan on going to bed early you may want to request a room a little further away from the nightly activities. It was what we wanted and the staff was great at accommodating our requests.
I think this resort just might be the best little secret on Aruba. We will definitely be back.
We had a great time here and met some amazing people who will be friends for life. We were all married on the same day! The hotel is very nice and clean but the buffet at the Divi is better than at the Tamarijn. Staff was very pleasant. Internet cafe was ok but you had to pay at the desk. Ask for a room closer to pool or dining area if you are physically challenged or have trouble walking. You can also call for a shuttle which you will need because it's a long walk to the lobby. Access to both properties is really nice and the lizards and pools were great. Ocean front room was my favorite but reserving a paloopa (think that's what it's called) was a pain at 6am!
Ocean was amazing! Shopping in Aruba is duty free and there are some great deals. Enjoy! Servers are friendly and fun!

What type of liquor is all-inclusive?13 answers
Are guests only offered bottom shelf liquors at this resort, or is any alcohol included? I.e; imported beer, grey goose vodka, etc
1 year, 15 months ago
Kim
Most All Inclusive resorts will include local beer, wine and liquor as part of their all inclusive plan, with topshelf liquors being available for an additional charge.
KateCC
Beer served is Balashi (local), Heineken, and Miller Lite, all on draft. No top shelf liquor, even for a surcharge. Vodka is Stoli, rum is Bacardi.
DiviAruba
Any and all alcohol is included, we even had the chance to name custom made drinks that were prepared for us by the bartending staff.
superpete
Grey goose is top shelf, haven't seen it. I think they have stoli, I believe.. Beer they have local "Balashi" and Heineken, miller lite..
beckybnott
They offer Stoli vodka, Dewars scotch, Bailey's, Capt Morgan, Bacardi rum. Draft beer only - Miller light and a local beer.
SeniorTraveler
Not a lot of beer options, but better alcohol available...you just have to ask
AtlantaGal
All the bars have top shelf liquors -- mixed drinks were great and if you want beer definitely try the local beer Balashi.
BeachGrammie
The bars had top shelf liquor...I drank Stoli which was their best vodka but saw good brands of Scotch and Gin also..Beer was Miller Lite and the Aruban Beer which was great. Their specialty drinks were a big thing and something good available no matter what you drink.
DickG
They have every liquor you can think of and its not bottom shelf. They do only serve miller lite as an american beer choice but i felt like it tasted exactly like Bilashi there beer.
chelle0818
Top shelf liquor is available at no extra charge however only beer available is draft
momzer
All top shelf
MrsKolors
The liquor that was offered I would consider top shelf. For example there was Stoli Vodka, Captain Morgans Rum, Dewers Scotch, Miller light and Heinekin draft beer.
ArubaLady
they serve heiniken miller light and a local beer balashi which is verry good and they have just about any top shelf you want

I would like to take a sun filled vacation alone. Most of the great deals require a minimun of double occupancy. Any suggestions?3 answers
Full service spa

nessa
Specials and promo codes do apply to double occupancy, but nearly all of our hotels accept single travelers. Try using the gold Create Your Own Vacation box and adjust the number of persons to one. This will show you pricing for single occupancy.
JenCC
You can go alone, but this is probably not the best place for singles
grwill1228
Yes the island had a full service spa and it was great.
caddie
Well Nessa, I'm a person that travels by myself all the time to resorts, and yes majority of the packages are double occupancy, which really sucks, but if you speak with a cheapcaribbean rep, they can definitely adjust that for you, in fact if you have traveled with them in the past, there are discounts that they throw right in. But don't make that change your mind from booking a great trip, go enjoy, live life, laugh lots.

Which is the best hotel to stay for 2 single woman 50+5 answers

the tamarrin is a nice resort we stayed there in 2004 but the best part about this resort is that you can use it's sister resort right next door also and that resort is called the divi and to me it's even nicer than the tamarri. and to answer your question you'll be in the carribbean so it doesn't make a difference what your age is it's plenty to do for everyone. so sit back and enjoy yourselves. i'm 52 so i know where you are coming from.
moneymike
Tamarihn or the Divi Aruba. Really, any hotel on the west side and north of the downtown area. Aruba is a very, very safe place.
diver1
I would deff. take my girlfreinds to the "Tam".
Lovedaruba2011
You don't want a hotel. They are expensive and impersonal. What you want is a resort, where you see the same faces everyday and actually establish a relationship with them. The Tamarijn is an excellent resort. I am a married woman, so I don't know about the single part. But you will feel at home here.
BobCat
Any older single women we spoke to loved the Tamerijn
wilfie
I would definitely recommend Tamarijn/Divi resort in Aruba, I've taken my mom last month for her birthday and she is 77, all her marbles lol, loves the beach and the great restaurants, and the casino at Divi was an a plus for her, I enjoyed myself too, also there are entertainment at both resorts that would definitely leave a smile on your face........I loved it.
