Paddle up to the swim-up bar in the free-form pool at Riu Montego Bay and pause a moment to gaze beyond the white beach. There, a red, yellow and blue sail of a free hotel catamaran dips and rises again as the boat slices through the water. Only three miles from downtown Montego Bay, the resort offers just the right blend of relaxation and exhilaration. To top things off, cool Atlantic breezes keep temperatures comfortable all day.

Superb
After staying at that Riu Palace in Aruba, I would say that the Riu Montego Bay is stellar!!!Staying at the Riu Negril was awful. The Riu Montego Bay was awesome!!! I would rate it as a Riu Palace!!! The food was awesome and the customer service was terrific.
Overall very good trip. We went April 28th- May 2nd 2012 and apparently that is during the rainy season. It rained everyday but was sunny in the mornings so still managed to get sun. The resort gives you large umbrellas in your room which is great. Even though it was raining everyone still hung out in the pool and the pool bartenders made it so fun you forgot you were getting wet.
We only managed to make it to one a-la-carte restaurant, the asian one which was very good. The egg-rolls were the best. When it came to lunch we never missed the Jerk chicken hut. Most tender chicken I have ever had. We also enjoyed the pasta station at lunch and the ceasar-salad station. Just a little tip- there really isn't any food after 2am besides mediocre nacho chips with cheese and sandwiches that you couldn't identify. But you can take food back to your room from the restaurants and put it in your fridge so if you think you may want a late night snack this is probably best.
The room we had was great. We had the 3rd floor in building 5. Building 5 was near the beach and the pool as well as the lunch place. It was never really loud and we never had a problem with bugs (possibly because we were on the 3rd floor). It is a lot of walking up steps as the elevator is in the middle of the building and it is just more convenient to take the stairs.
The beach is just okay. The water isn't as clear as I have seen but the water sports were nice. If you are looking for white beaches and clear waters this isn't it but it is a clean beach and easy to walk in. We spent a lot of our time by the pool.
If you tip the minifridge restocker he will give you more RedStripe.
Overall I would recommend it. Great staff and really got our money's worth with the drinks and the food.

Great Girls Getaway until IRENE
Had a wonderful time. Great getaway before returning back to work at school. The worse part was Hurricane IRENE. She decided to hit home so we were forced to stay an extra 7 days. I know it sounds great, however nego. prices per night was a nightmare. different price per extra night we stayed. It wasn't our or resorts problem.. They were dealing with alot of people stranded not being able to get flights to the States. Cost of flight home thru Delta was more than the original TRIP. SO BUY EXTENDED insurance. We were able to get flight money returned. However Room money was not reimbursed. Now for RIU, Bartenders were great, Games at pool were a lot of fun, Beach and pool great, Snorkled for first time GREAT, We Loved the Italian Resturant. Buffet Food choices were good but got boring after 5 days. The food was good, But boring for choices. Will use Cheap Caribbean Again next summer.

Super vacation!
We've just returned from a 5 night stay and we had a great time! After reading some of the reviews I was a little concerned but all in all it was a very nice vacation.
For the price we paid this was a perfect vacation. Sure we could have spent more money and probably gone some place a little nicer but for what we spent we couldn't have been happier.
If you want a long walk on the beach this isn't the place for you but if relaxing by the pool is what you want this is the perfect venue. The food was good, not great but there is no way anyone could go hungry. By far the best thing we ate was the jerk chicken served at the beach hut! We ate there everyday for lunch and it was fabulous!
Go, relax, and enjoy yourself!

: For vacation packages how does the deposit program work. How much of a deposit do I generally need to leave and when does it need to be payed off by2 answers
1 year, 15 months ago
Soukufa
The deposit program is a great way to split your payments for your reservation. There is a $25 convenience fee to do a deposit, and at the time of booking you will have to pay for airfare, any additional insurance you might purchase, taxes, and the $25 deposit fee. The remaining balance of the reservation is due 21 days before you travel and is automatically charged to the credit card on file unless otherwise specified.
KateCC
You pay half up front and then the balance two weeks out. from trip. Which makes sense the airline tickets need to be paid upfront anyway.
TripTaker
As for me I used my credit card and I am still paying even after my vacation is over.

Our deposit program typically allows for 2 separate payments - the initial deposit and then the remaining balance is automatically charged 21 days prior to travel. If you need to make smaller payments, however, this can be arranged by calling our Concierge department at 1-800-915-2322 at the time you wish to make the payment.

Not sure, we paid all at once on a credit card. We booked this vacation only 4 weeks out, so there was not time to make payments.

Also what it only one person need the airfare but two people will be staying at the resor how do the price work on this situation

Doll baby
If you decide to use our deposit program the final balance is autocharged 21 days prior to departure so you would want to book early enough to make it worth doing the deposit. Booking a package with only one airfare is no problem! You just need to call our new reservations center and someone can price it out for you. You will still get special package pricing on the hotel and just pay for one airfare through us.
JenCC
you cant book a package if only one person needs air - you will have to book separately.

Not too sure about that, but i would imagine that you have a chance in doing so.

Everything is included in your price. Food, restaurants that you need a reservation for (specialty places, asian, steakhouse, italian) snorkeling, kayaking, beach food, all bars, restaurants. Also they have daily events, nightly entertainment. Great place!

Food and Dining were all included in the sale. (all inclusive)

Joyous227
food and dining is included but the quality of food is poor. Restaurants are limited and reservations are based upon number of nights stay. In 2 restuarants only the entree is a al carte (salads, appetzers, desert and drinks are buffet) and the 3rd restaurant is all all buffet. This resort does not offer fine dining!
epiphd
Unless I'm misinterpreting: if the resort option you pick is all-inclusive, the cost of food, drink, and dining are included in the sale. We paid nothing on food/drink between arriving at the airport and getting off the shuttle when it returned us to the airport.
SeeStationManager
Totally included. They have 4 restaurants. One is buffet dining all the time for dinner and no reservations. Tons of food to choose from. The others you have to make reservations, so see the conceirge when you check in (hope I spelled that correctly). Unlimited food. They also have lunch in one of the restaurants during the day and cook jerk chicken with rice and beans on the beach. The also have a sport bar with sandwiches, nachos, popcorn, etc. ....all this food (and drink: alcohol or not) isd unlimited and included in your all-inclusive package (as well as unlimited liquor dispensor with four liquors and a mini-frige with cokes, tonic water, organge drink, water, etc.) stocked in your room every day. Also included in your all-inclusive price. Can't beat it with a stick!

Did sit in the provided lounge chairs under a palm tree once on the beach. Plenty of shaded areas if you are by the pool area....and nicely decorated too!

How many planes fly over a day?6 answers
Jim
As the hotel is conveniently located less than 2 miles from the airport, there are planes that fly overhead from the morning, until the evening. The amount of planes flying over in a given day can vary based on the time of year and the day of the week. There is a higher occurrence of planes during the weekends, and during the busy travel season. Most of our clients advise us that the planes do not tend to bother them during their stay.
KristinCC
a lot. it is right next to the airport. but it's not horrible on the beach because there are so many people. also they start about 8 am and end about 8 pm. there are other things like food and service you should focus on
warmweathergirl
There are not too many planes flying over the resort during the week, but there are a lot on Saturday and Sunday!!
sunjunkie
The resort is a 10-15 minute drive from the airport. Planes fly over the resort daily and often afternoon and evening, I don't recall if any during the morning.
TKEcpa
A few planes fly over but you hardly notice them. I don't think the resort is in the direct flight path. We stopped at another resort to take a catamaran ride and that had planes directly flying above and low over them. I didn't hear any planes at night time.
luvsunsets
It is not far from the airport, and planes did fly over. But did not hear and loud noise from them. They were not right over the hotel

Keep Your Cool at Riu Montego Bay in Jamaica
Paddle up to the swim-up bar in the free-form pool at Riu Montego Bay and pause a moment to gaze beyond the white beach. There, a red, yellow and blue sail of a free hotel catamaran dips and rises again as the boat slices through the water. Only three miles from downtown Montego Bay, the resort offers just the right blend of relaxation and exhilaration. To top things off, cool Atlantic breezes keep temperatures comfortable all day.
Snorkeling is a favorite among the all inclusive activities at this resort. But when you fall in love with the bright colors and muted sounds of the underwater world, it might be time to consider a complimentary scuba lesson. If you prefer the thrill of wind and water together, check out a windsurfing rig or kayak.
If unwinding is your goal, nothing compares to a beachside massage at one of the open-air cabanas. Renova Spa offers a complete range of services, from facials to hydrotherapy and waxing to nail treatments. Why not share a massage with your honey in one of the double cabins?
Don't worry if you're reluctant to leave the beach for dinner; an unassuming beach hut offers the best jerk chicken in Jamaica. This signature Jamaican dish consistently wows; you won't be the only one back for a second or third visit. If you do leave the beach, choose from a poolside steakhouse, two la carte restaurants specializing in Asian and Italian cuisine, or the resort's buffet.
You won't be bored when the sun falls below the horizon at Riu Montego Bay. Jamaica is known for its party scene, and you won't be disappointed. Dance under the moonlight at beach parties on select nights, and enjoy live shows throughout the week.
After a day of fun or touring, you'll welcome the plush comfort of an Ocean View Room. A night of sweet dreams will have you ready for another day of play in this personal Eden.
